cameras. Okay, so Galaxy S24 Ultra. Let me show you guys what settings I'm using with this phone and you can just follow along to see if it works for you. Personally, for me, I'm able to get these results with this phone for videos and photos, so let me share it with you. And don't worry if you have another phone of a different brand or model; you can still use my philosophy to squeeze the maximum out of your camera.
Let me install the phone into this accessory first. I will explain to you what it is in just a moment, and we're ready to go.
Camera App Setup
First, let's start with the camera app. As you see here, I rearranged all the modes. On the left, I have Pro Photo in case I want to use manual settings for photos, like adjusting shutter speed and ISO. The same thing I did for videos; you see on the right from the video, I have Pro Video mode which allows me to utilize all the manual settings that the phone offers:
- Go into the more tab
- Long press onto the mode you want to add to the panel
- Drag it to the desired position
I recommend you do the same.
General Settings
When in photo mode, hit the gear menu:
- Intelligent Optimization: set to maximum
- Advanced Video Options: disable HDR 10+
- Grid Lines: always keep it on
- Voice Commands: I personally don't use them. I prefer something like a remote shutter button.
- Settings to Keep: enable Camera Mode, Selfie Angle, High Picture Resolution, and Portrait Zoom
Super Steady & Stabilization
I never use super steady on any phones because the built-in stabilization is usually already good enough:
- Super Steady: decreases resolution to Quad HD
- Tests show minimal necessity for additional stabilization when filming in good lighting
For cases requiring a tripod, I use an accessory rig with various mounts for lenses and filters. This improves the filming process's comfort and efficiency.
Specific Camera Setups
HDR Mode
When to use HDR:
- Bright highlights and rich shadows: HDR is necessary
- Overcast weather: Disable HDR; it will ruin your shot.
Camera Assistant
Download the Camera Assistant app from Galaxy App Store to enhance camera functionalities further:
- Zoom Shortcuts: Add digital crops
- HDR: Disable
- Picture Softening: Off
- Auto Lens Switch: Disabled
- Distortion Correction: Enabled
- High-Resolution Settings: Adaptive Pixel on
Video Settings: Resolution & Focus
- Resolution: Always film in Ultra HD or higher (preferably 4K 30 FPS)
- Manual adjustments: Utilize Pro Video mode for granular control
- Lock exposure, focus, and white balance: Important to keep settings fixed once you start recording
Pro Video Mode
- Aspect Ratio: Use 16:9
- ISO: Lower values for cleaner images (ISO 50 in daylight)
- Shutter Speed: Depends on the desired motion blur. Typically 1/125 for daylight but may need adjusting for different lighting conditions.
- Focus: Multi, Center, or Manual Focus depending on the shot
- White Balance: Auto is often the best choice
Conclusion
Thanks to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, getting high-quality video and photos is easier than ever. Set your camera properly, use the discussed settings, and you will significantly improve your image quality.

FAQ
Q: Is it necessary to use HDR for all videos? A: No, HDR should be used only when there are bright highlights and rich shadows. Disable it during overcast weather as it may ruin the shot.
Q: Should I always use Super Steady Stabilization? A: No, built-in stabilization is usually sufficient, especially in good lighting. Super Steady reduces resolution and may not be necessary.
Q: What resolution should I use for filming? A: Always use at least Ultra HD (4K). 30 FPS is often better for most scenarios due to higher bit rates per frame compared to 60 FPS.
Q: How to handle changes in exposure and focus during long shots? A: Lock your exposure, focus, and white balance before starting to record to avoid inconsistencies in your video.
Q: What settings should I use in Pro Video Mode? A: Use a 16:9 aspect ratio, lower ISO for cleaner image, consider your lighting for shutter speed, and often auto white balance can be best.
