Studio Mobile Content Tab Improvements, Comments Tab, now called "Community", AI Summaries, & MORE!

Education

Introduction

Hello insiders! I'm Lauren, a program manager here at YouTube and the producer of Creator Insider. It’s Tuesday, which means it's time for some news updates. We are thrilled to share several new features and improvements designed for creators like you across YouTube Studio.

Content Tab Enhancements

Over the years, we've added various format types to YouTube Studio, and now we’re revamping the Content tab to better meet the needs of creators of all sizes and formats.

  • The Content tab in the mobile version of Studio will offer an overview of all formats, including videos, Shorts, live streams, and playlists, each organized by its respective shelf.
  • There will be an option to view all formats in a list view by clicking on "View All" in each shelf.
  • If a creator has scheduled content, a Scheduled filter chip will be visible to help declutter the overview page and make important performance data, such as views and likes, more accessible.
  • The monetization and visibility status will only be displayed when there's an issue or if the video is not public. For detailed status inquiries, creators can click on "View All" to see the information from the video list.

These enhancements will be rolling out to all creators in the coming weeks on the Studio mobile app.

Comments Tab Renamed to "Community"

We’ve also heard from many creators that more tools and features are needed to build relationships with their audiences and effectively manage comments. In response, we're excited to announce some improvements beginning to launch in the Community tab (formerly known as the comments tab):

  • The Community tab will now feature a new section for audience metrics, allowing creators to quickly see the number of comments and how many of those come from returning viewers.
  • A Community Spotlight section will highlight engaged viewers, making it easier for creators to identify and interact with their most involved audience members.
  • We’re also enhancing our AI-powered comment reply suggestions to provide personalized, editable responses in the creator's own style. This feature will initially be available to a limited number of creators, with plans to expand later on.

These updates will begin rolling out to the YouTube Studio app soon.

AI-Generated Video Summaries

Last year, we began testing AI-generated video summaries for select English-language videos. Based on the feedback received from this experiment, we’re excited to announce that we will be expanding AI-generated summaries to more users across the globe in the upcoming weeks.

  • These AI-generated summaries provide viewers a quick insight into what a YouTube video is about, complementing the creator's own video descriptions.
  • This feature is aimed at assisting viewers in finding relevant content and does not impede a creator's ability to craft their own descriptions.

We encourage you to explore any AI-generated summaries you may see on your videos and share your feedback.

Interactive Chatbot Experiment

Additionally, we are experimenting with a new interactive chatbot on the Studio desktop. This feature will help surface help center content to address creator questions.

  • Eligible creators will notice a clickable icon next to the search field on Studio desktop, which will provide useful assistance.
  • We anticipate expanding this feature to more creators, depending on the outcomes of our experiments.

If you're interested in trying out this new feature, let us know in the comments!

That’s all for this week! From the creators of YouTube to our amazing creators, we’ll see you next week.
