Peanut Butter Banana Tortilla Hack

The first hack we’re testing is a dessert version of a trending Instagram hack, suggested by Mohammed Adnan. The ingredients for this hack include:

  • 1 tortilla
  • Crunchy peanut butter
  • Banana slices
  • Strawberry slices
  • Nutella
  • Chopped almonds (or any nuts of your choice)

To start, make a slit in the center of the tortilla. On one quarter, spread crunchy peanut butter. On the second quarter, add a few banana slices. On the third quarter, place some strawberry slices. Finally, on the last quarter, apply Nutella and sprinkle some chopped almonds on top. Fold the tortilla from the slit and grill it on both sides until it turns crispy.

While the overall look of the tortilla was appealing, the strawberry side didn't get crispy enough and had a mushy consistency. After sprinkling powdered sugar, we gave it a taste, and the flavors blended beautifully, with the peanut butter and banana taking the lead. Although I wished it were crunchier, this hack was a success!

Dark Fantasy Mug Cake Hack

Next up is the Dark Fantasy Mug Cake suggested by Pre-tal. Here are the ingredients used:

  • 5 tbsp maida (all-purpose flour)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 Dark Fantasy biscuits

In a microwave-safe mug, combine the maida, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and baking powder. Mix thoroughly, then add the oil and milk, stirring until the batter is smooth. The oil and milk can be combined first for an easier mix. Finally, add pieces of two Dark Fantasy biscuits, and microwave for 2 minutes.

The mug cake looked decent, but upon tasting, it was quite bitter due to the unsweetened cocoa powder. It needed more sugar to balance the flavors. While the biscuit part was moist and enjoyable, I’d rate this hack a 50/50.

Chocolate Maggi Hack

The next hack is a daring one: Chocolate Maggi, suggested by Farhana Khanam. In a pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, then add half a cup of dark chocolate compound. Mix until melted and then incorporate half a cup of boiled Maggi noodles (without the masala). The mixture initially separates, resulting in an unappealing look. To dress it up, I added Christmas-themed sprinkles and gems for decoration.

To my surprise, the taste was delicious! It was incredibly chocolatey and unique, with the sprinkles adding a nice crunch. This hack was unexpectedly a big hit!

Nutella Lava Cake Hack

Our next temptress is the Nutella Lava Cake, suggested by Riya Ramparia. The ingredients include:

  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 3-4 drops of vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup maida
  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • Chocolate chips

Start by whisking the eggs with powdered sugar. Then add melted butter and vanilla essence, mixing thoroughly. Fold in the maida and finally add Nutella. Transfer three-fourths of the batter to a cake tin, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and cover with the remaining batter. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 190°C.

Unfortunately, this did not turn out as expected. The chocolate chips sunk to the bottom, and I didn’t achieve the desired lava effect. The texture felt more like mousse and had a very eggy taste. Despite following the recipe, this hack was a bust for me.

Apple Oatmeal Hack

Our last hack comes from Ashitosh Gosarkar and involves making an apple oatmeal. Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 peeled and chopped apple
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 tbsp oats

In a microwave-safe mug, combine the cubed apples with brown sugar and cinnamon powder. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and oats, then layer this mixture over the apples. Microwave for 2 minutes.

The dish turned out amazing! The apples were soft yet retained their bite, complemented by the lovely cinnamon flavor. Despite being slightly watery, this hack was definitely a success.
