The Impact of AI on Publishing... #askanauthor

Honestly, I have not spoken to anyone in the publishing industry as far as IP (Intellectual Property) work goes and how AI might affect it. However, it's interesting that you should ask this question because just yesterday on Lisa Daley's live stream, we had a really great discussion about the impact AI could have on publishing and, in fact, is already having on publishing. I will link that down below if you guys want to check it out.

I'll just tell you this: I get a lot of ghostwriting requests from people and small companies that are basically looking for a ghostwriter to churn out not-great-quality books for an absolutely absurdly low rate. Of course, I never do them. And I think AI could help those projects out, but they don't worry me as far as my career as a ghostwriter goes.

Writers and readers are still going to want to gravitate towards that kind of expression of The Human Experience that only an actual human can express in their stories.

FAQ

Q1: How is AI affecting the publishing industry? A1: AI is already having an impact on publishing, helping with projects that require churning out low-quality content quickly and cheaply.

Q2: What kinds of ghostwriting requests do you receive? A2: I receive many requests for producing low-quality books at very low rates, which I always decline.

Q3: Can AI replace human writers? A3: Although AI can assist in certain types of writing projects, many believe that the unique human expression in storytelling cannot be replicated by AI, ensuring that human writers remain relevant.
