They Not Like Us Face Behind Text Trick a Different Way Canva Tutorial for Beginners
People & Blogs
Introduction
In this tutorial, we're going to explore a creative approach to creating the "face behind text" design using Canva. This method is different from previous tutorials and is perfectly suited for DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers due to its transparent background. We'll also compare this method to others, so feel free to share your preferences in the comments section!
Getting Started
We'll begin by setting up a canvas. For this tutorial, I've opted for a YouTube thumbnail size of 1280 pixels by 720 pixels, but you can use any workspace that fits your design needs, whether it's a t-shirt, mug, or any other product.
Step 1: Adding Elements
- Open your Canva workspace and navigate to Elements.
- Find an image; in this case, we're using a lion. Place the lion on your workspace.
- Next, go to Text and insert a text box.
Step 2: Creating Text
In the text box, type in "FACE BEHIND TEXT TRICK". You can customize the text to any phrase you prefer. Ensure the text is in all caps for the desired effect.
- Align all text to the left.
- Adjust spacing: tighten up the letter and line spacing for a more cohesive look.
Step 3: Positioning Text
Now, position the text over the image of the lion. Resize the text as necessary by dragging the corner of the text box.
Step 4: Styling Text
For this project, I’ve chosen red for the text color. To create a layered effect:
- Create a second text box with the same phrase, placing it over the first one.
- Change this new text's color to white.
- Line up the text boxes as closely as possible.
Step 5: Adding Effects
To enhance your design:
- Select the white text and navigate to Effects.
- Choose the Hollow effect and adjust the thickness to your liking (around 50-51 works well).
- Position the red text behind the lion by adjusting the layers in the position menu.
This allows you to sandwich the lion between the white hollow text and red text, creating a striking visual.
Bonus Tips
- Feel free to add additional elements like shadows or paint strokes to customize your design even further.
- Remember, this is just one of many ways to achieve this effect; explore various colors and methods to find what works for you.
