Introduction
Hello everyone, and welcome back to my channel! I go by the name of YOLO, and today I want to share my experience making money on X (formerly known as Twitter). You can expect some gossip videos later on, but for now, let’s dive into how I started earning on this controversial platform.
My Journey as a Content Creator
About two years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom and a dedicated YouTuber. I was quite satisfied with my work until I realized that if I sent my son to daycare, I could put more energy into my YouTube channel and potentially earn more. This year, I aimed to become a full-time YouTuber and refrain from seeking extra income elsewhere, as I felt financially secure. However, as views and revenue started declining around late November and December, I realized I needed to explore other options.
When Elon Musk announced payments for content creators on X, I was intrigued. The requirements were seemingly simple: gain 500 followers, subscribe to X for around 144 Rands, and achieve 5 million impressions in a few months. I quickly did my research and found out that becoming a "reply guy"—engaging with popular tweets—could help me meet the impression target without having to create original content.
For three weeks, I focused on replying to tweets, particularly those from celebrities. This approach garnered a lot of attention and engagement, propelling me closer to my goal. Many users were sharing their successes, claiming earnings of 60,000 R and 100,000 R, which motivated me even further. I even considered selling my YouTube channel if I could fully leverage this new opportunity.
Monetization Experience
After applying to monetize my account, I was thrilled to get accepted. Initially, I focused primarily on being a reply guy, but I soon learned that this strategy wasn't yielding the financial results I was hoping for. Upon receiving a payment notification of only 206 R after meeting the impression requirements, I felt deflated. Despite my initial enthusiasm, I realized I needed to pivot my strategy.
Determined not to give up, I decided to switch gears and concentrate on becoming an original content creator while still engaging with trending topics. I continued investing in my X account, paying another subscription fee of 144 R and committing to creating more personalized content. I am now eagerly anticipating the next payout date on November 27, 2023.
Conclusion
As I sit here reflecting on my experience as a content creator on X, I remain hopeful for a more rewarding outcome this time around.
