Introduction
Hi! Welcome to PS Design's Photoshop and Photography tutorials. In this tutorial, we will use Adobe Photoshop to enhance and convert a low-resolution image to a high-resolution one. You can follow along with any image or download the image used in this tutorial via the provided link.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Set Preferences
First of all, open Photoshop and go to Edit > Preferences
and select Camera Raw
. Make sure you are using Adobe Camera Raw version 13.2 or later. If your version is outdated, please update it to utilize this feature.
Step 2: Configuring JPEG Handling
In the Camera Raw settings, change the JPEG Handling
option to 'Automatically open all supported JPEGs'. By doing this, you are telling Photoshop to open all supported JPEGs in Camera Raw. Click OK
to save the settings.
Step 3: Open the Image
Now, open the image in Photoshop. You can either use the File > Open
option or simply drag and drop the image into Photoshop.
Step 4: Use the Enhance Feature
Right-click on the image and select Enhance
. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + D
(Windows) or Command + Shift + D
(Mac).
An Enhance Preview
window will pop up. On the right-hand side, you will see an option called Super Resolution
. This feature doubles your image resolution and improves the overall quality, making it ideal for large displays and printing.
Step 5: Apply Super Resolution
Scroll down and click on Enhance
to apply the Super Resolution. The resolution will be doubled, and you will notice an improvement in image quality when zooming in.
Step 6: Export and Repeat (Optional)
If you need an even larger image, export the output as a JPEG and repeat the process. This will further increase the resolution.
