Introduction to AI Notification Blueprint
One of AI's most impressive capabilities to date is the generation of human-like text. When combined with Home Assistant’s ability to integrate with various devices, it acts as a super smart assistant capable of sending notifications that matter most to you. With this in mind, I created an AI assistant notification blueprint that’s designed to be as flexible as you need it to be.
This blueprint simplifies the process of fetching data from calendars, to-do lists, weather, and various other entities in Home Assistant. Instead of merely explaining its features, let me show you how it works directly in Home Assistant.
Setting Up the Blueprint
Triggering Notifications
You can select any trigger for the automation. For example, if you'd like to receive a notification every time you arrive home, you simply set it up accordingly, especially if you are using the ultimate presence detection sensor.
Conditions and Agenda
Next, you can add any conditions to the automation or leave it empty. In the agenda section, you can choose which features to include in the automation. Limiting the information shared with the AI will enhance the accuracy of its responses. Each feature not only fetches the information from the entities but also includes specific instructions for the AI to follow.
Utilizing Specific Features
If you only want to use your to-do list feature for a notification, activate it and select the desired list. You have options for weather forecasts as well, whether hourly or daily. You can select various entities to share with the AI and specify how you'd like the AI to utilize this information.
Creating Complex Automations
There are virtually no limits to what you can set up. For example, you can create an automation to be notified if your pet is fed, but only if no one is home at the time. This can be accomplished by setting a condition that checks the occupancy of the home when the pet feeder is activated.
AI Conversation Agent
You can select which conversation agent you'd like to use, whether it's a cloud-based or local AI. If needed, you can also share an example notification style with the AI to better guide its responses. Subsequently, you can configure the devices where you want to receive notifications, selecting any smartphone using the Home Assistant companion app or up to three notification services.
Custom Actions
For added functionality, you can include any custom action to be executed after sending the notification, such as turning off a helper or sending a notification to smart speakers.
Finalizing the Setup
Once everything is set, save the automation and give it a name. With this blueprint, you can create an unlimited number of notification automations, tailoring the information and how you want the AI to make use of it.
