Use FREE AI Tools to Create Professional Headshots & Transform Photos (with Canva Magic Edit)
Hello everyone, and welcome back to my channel, Jennifer Marie, where I teach you different ways to make money online as a freelancer and share various tech tips. In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you Canva’s new Magic Edit tool, which is currently 100% free—you don’t need a Pro account to use it. We’ll use this tool to transform low-quality or unprofessional photos into stunning headshots that you can use on your business webpage, Instagram, LinkedIn profile, and more.
Getting Started
Sign Up for Canva: To start, sign up for Canva using the link provided in the video description.
Upload Your Photos: Find some photos of yourself that you want to convert into headshots. Click on "Create a Design," then "Import File," and locate the file you wish to edit.
Create a New Design: Select the photo you uploaded and choose "Use in a New Design." Customize the size to your preference; for headshots, a square dimension of 1000x1000 pixels works well.
Changing the Background
Select the Magic Edit Tool: Click on the image, then “Edit Photo,” and select the "Magic Edit" tool.
Brush Over the Area: Adjust the brush size to cover the entire background around your head and shoulders.
Generate a Corporate Background: After brushing over the background, click "Continue" and type "corporate background" in the prompt. Canva’s AI will generate multiple background options for you to choose from. Select your favorite and click "Done."
Changing the Outfit
Return to Magic Edit: Click "Edit Photo" once more and select the "Magic Edit" tool again.
Brush Over Outfit: Brush over your current outfit. You may also brush over parts of your hair if you want it adjusted.
Generate a Professional Outfit: Type "corporate business outfit for woman" and click "Generate." Review the options and select the one you like best. Click "Done."
Adjusting Hair Length
Extend Hair: Go back to Magic Edit and brush over the hair region if you wish to adjust the length. Type "long blonde hair" and generate the results. Select your desired option.
Additional Adjustments: You can further enhance the image by clicking "Adjust" to tweak brightness, contrast, and other settings. You can also apply filters to smooth out any pixelation.
Downloading the Final Image
Click "Share," then "Download," select the page, and download it as a PNG file. You now have a professional-looking headshot suitable for LinkedIn, Instagram, or any other platform.
Additional Example: Glamour Shots
For a more glamorous transformation:
Upload a Recent Photo: Edit a newer image similarly by cropping for headshots and using the Magic Edit tool.
Brush Over Hair: Type descriptions like "curly wavy blonde hair" and generate results.
Apply Filters & Adjustments: After selecting the desired hair style, you can use black-and-white filters and make other photo adjustments.
This tool is straightforward and incredibly fun to use for creating professional photos from practically any picture. Try it out and let me know your experiences in the comments below.
