Use These Free AI Tools to Make Your Photo Talk

I've been searching every nook and cranny of my room looking for my glasses until I faced the mirror and realized I've been wearing it all along. I felt so dumb! Anyway, can you relate? Do you know the secret to my survival? It's quite simple, really. Whenever things get a bit dicey, I just ask myself what would a sober person do, then I do the exact opposite. Works like a charm—except for that one time with the crocodiles, but that's a story for another bottle of rum. Savvy?

I found three AI tools that you can use to animate and make your photos talk for free. In this article, we will review each of them and decide which is the best. Let's skip the talking and dive into the first AI tool.

Hedra AI

Word about this AI tool has been going around YouTube recently, so you might have heard about it. The first tool is called Hedra AI. Visit their website and click "Try Beta". Before generating our own videos, let's look at Hedra's featured videos. According to Hedra's post on X, the Character 1 model has infinite duration and 30 seconds for the open preview. You can use it to give your characters expressive talking, singing, and rapping.

Let's try it! You have the option to upload or generate the audio and character. Hedra partnered with 11 Labs, so the voice quality will be ultra-realistic. I'll paste a text sample and generate an image. Then, click "Generate Video." Our video is now generating, let's skip to the result:

"Hey little buddy, ever wonder why the ocean is salty? It's because I sprinkled it with my awesomeness. You're welcome."

Now, let's try another one but this time, upload a song I generated from Sunno and an image from Leonardo AI. Here’s the result:

"Fly me and dreams and endless sky, feel the rhythm we can’t deny, girls just wanna pro all night, dance until the morning light."

Morph Studio

This tool is called Morph Studio. Visit their website and click "Get Started," then "Create New Project." Select your aspect ratio and click "Create." On the left sidebar, click "Animate Your Image" and then "Lip Sync." Each second of video generation costs 10 credits. There are two options:

  1. Upload an image here and turn it into a video, then use the lip sync feature. This method costs more.
  2. Convert your image into a video using Canva or CapCut, then upload it directly here. This costs less.

Let’s try both options. I'll use the image I generated with Leonardo AI and upload it. Click this button and choose a camera movement. If you don’t want any movements, just click "Static." Now, generate the video (up to 10 seconds Max duration). Here's the result:

Next, click the frame and choose the mouth icon. Upload your voiceover and generate it:

"Miss Johnson was reading a story earlier in class, and she got super close."

Now, let’s try option two. I used a square video template on Canva and uploaded the same photo. I adjusted the duration to less than 4 seconds and downloaded it (no special movements added). Let's upload the video. Don’t forget to upload the audio file. Then click the star icon to generate:

"Miss Johnson was reading a story earlier in class and she got super close."

As you can see, we just used up our credits. This tool only offers 120 credits per month with the free plan.

Pika

Finally, let's look at the third free tool. This is their website. Click "Try Pika," then upload your image. Once done, click "Lip Sync" and upload your audio file. Choose "Attach and Continue," then click "Generate." Our video is now generating, but let's skip to the result:

Pika Result

"Why don't scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything."

Currently, Pika can only generate 3 seconds of video. You get 250 initial credits with the free plan, which refills 30 credits daily once the initial credits run out.

Conclusion

The first AI tool, Hedra, is more specialized for making characters talk, while the other tools are designed for wider video generation purposes. As of now, you can access these tools for free, so try them while you can. Don't forget to leave a like if you find this article helpful.
