Using Adobe Fonts in Illustrator on the iPad | Adobe Creative Cloud
Education
Introduction
Illustrator is the industry-leading graphic design app made for working with type. And now, it's available on iPad. We're very excited to announce a full feature to Adobe Fonts integration and reimagine type tools. Illustrator on iPad has one of the most comprehensive type experiences on a mobile device.
Let's start with the text object. Look how fast and intuitive it is to work with type in this way. With the Adobe Fonts integration, everything you need is right in the app. The new font menu allows you to stay right here while looking for the fonts you need. If I don't find something in my font list, I can browse the Adobe Fonts library by tag right from Illustrator.
This is a really fun way to try out fonts quickly. If I know the font I'm looking for, I can search the entire Adobe Fonts library right here. And if all that isn't enough, this plus button will allow you to add your own fonts to Creative Cloud and use them in the same way. Any fonts you upload here will be available on this iPad and across your other devices through Creative Cloud.
Okay, now that we've got some fonts to work with, let's try out these type tools. You saw how easy it was to create a text object earlier, just one tap. For area text, it's just tap and drag. And of course, you can resize text by grabbing any of these handles on the text box. You can also rotate it with this handle above.
You can use modifiers when making a text object. Create a point text object and resize the text at the same time. This allows you to quickly lay something out and get a sense of what things will look like. You have a headline, a subhead, and two columns; it's really fast.
Customizing text is also very intuitive. There are quick actions which you can tap and drag to instantly make adjustments. And when you need to do things accurately, dive into the properties panel. You can kerning, adjust tracking, create outlines, and type on path.
As you can see, with the full Adobe Fonts integration and these new type tools, Illustrator on the iPad is the perfect app for designing with beautiful typography. We can't wait to see what you create.
