Vegas Pro 17 Tutorial | How to Edit and Render videos for TIK TOK
Education
Introduction
Hey everyone, Nick here with another Vegas Pro 17 tutorial. Today, I'm going to show you how to create TikTok videos using Vegas Pro 17. Before you start criticizing TikTok, know that I've received numerous requests on how to render a proper video format for TikTok using this software. So, here it is.
Setting Up Your Project
Step 1: Creating a New Project
- Go to
File
->New
. - A window will appear. I've already created a custom TikTok project, which I will select. However, you won’t have this yet.
- Copy the following settings:
- Width: 1080
- Height: 1920 (opposite of the normal 1080p resolution)
- Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0 square
- Frame Rate: 60 (most phones record at 60 FPS)
- Ensure your Motion Blur Type is "Gaussian" and your Resample Mode is "Disable Resample."
- Save the template by clicking the floppy disk icon. Name it, preferably “TikTok.”
Step 2: Importing Media
- Go to
Import Media
and select your clip. - Drag it into the timeline. Note that if your clip is in 16:9 aspect ratio, you will see black bars at the top and bottom.
Adjusting Aspect Ratio
Method 1: Background Blur (Recommended)
- Right-click on your video track and choose
Insert Video Track
. - Drag your clip onto the new track and delete the extra audio track.
- Go to the bottom video track -> click on
...
->Track Motion
. - Stretch the corners to fill up the whole screen.
- Ensure that there is one keyframe; delete others if necessary.
- Apply Gaussian Blur to the bottom video track to make it look better.
Method 2: Zooming In (Not Recommended)
- Follow the previous steps but instead of two tracks, right-click your original video track and select
Track Motion
. - Enable
Lock Aspect Ratio
and stretch it out to fill the display. - This method will cut out most of your video, but it will fill the screen.
Rendering Your Video
- Go to
File
->Render As
. - Choose
MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4
format and selectInternet HD 1080p 59.94 fps
. - Click
Customize Template
. - Set the frame size to Custom: 1080 (width) x 1920 (height).
- Adjust settings as follows:
- Profile: Main
- Frame Rate: Same
- Aspect Ratio: 1
- Encode Mode: NVENC (if you have an NVidia GPU)
- Render Quality: Best
- Save the template and name it TikTok.
- Choose where to save your file, then click
Render
.
