Vimeo's AI Tools That Make Corporate Video Communications Easy
Film & Animation
Introduction
At Vimeo, we boast a widely distributed workforce. While our headquarters are based in New York, we have employees stationed across the globe. My role is pivotal—ensuring that all employees stay informed about the happenings within our company.
I am deeply passionate about my job. To put it bluntly, I care immensely about our employees and their concerns. The past year posed a plethora of challenges. One of my primary tasks is discovering and maintaining the unique Vimeo voice. Our communication strategy emphasizes empathy and humanity but must also remain direct and concise—a fine balance that’s more art than science.
Integral to my job are editing and reviewing executive messaging. When a Slack or email message grows excessively lengthy, the impact of the tone diminishes, which is crucial to our communication.
The introduction of our new AI features and tools has been a revolutionary change. I use the AI script generator to draft executive communications quickly. By inputting the essence of our message, including key points, tone, and length, the script generator promptly produces an initial draft. The flexibility to adjust the tone to be more conversational, personal, or direct is invaluable in achieving the desired Vimeo voice.
Additionally, our teleprompter feature has streamlined the recording process. Executives no longer need to juggle between holding a script and maintaining eye contact with the camera, resulting in a smoother and more natural delivery. This efficiency means we can schedule short recording sessions, utilize the teleprompter, and quickly get to filming, maintaining the focus on the message.
Text-based editing features are equally impressive. They remove filler words, awkward pauses, and erroneous phrases, enhancing the professionalism and polish of the final message. This alleviates pressure from everyone involved, ensuring a clearer and more confident delivery.
An example of these tools' impact was during the difficulties of the past year, particularly concerning our numerous employees in Ukraine. Video messages conveyed our support far more powerfully than written communications could have. Viewers could perceive genuine emotions and reactions, significantly heightening the impact.
There will always be challenging situations and messages to convey. However, delivering these with a human touch—complete with voice, face, and emotion—makes them far more impactful and manageable.
