Weekly LIVE Office Hours #293: Ask Me Anything About Career Development, Business or Finance

Education

Introduction

Good morning and welcome to our 293rd weekly webcast! If this is your first time joining us, welcome. If you’ve been with us before, welcome back!

This session is similar to an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, where you can ask me business questions, career questions, investing inquiries, startup concerns, personal development questions, or anything else related to personal growth. Feel free to type your questions now, and I’ll answer them in the order I receive them.

Before we dive into the questions, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy Diwali, symbolizing the victory of truth over darkness. It’s a joyful occasion, indeed!

Question from Sanj

Sanj wrote: "Hi Chris, I’ve started a YouTube channel. How do I get more attention, more subscribers, and more views?"

I’m delighted to assist you! I recommend that everyone here start a YouTube channel as soon as possible, as I believe artificial general intelligence will be mainstream within five years. Hence, you have a limited time to build your personal brand.

We know that consistency in content is crucial. For example, I have conducted this live webcast weekly for about five or six years. In the beginning, I suggest having a prepared script just in case nobody shows up. As you publish content—like Vlogs or YouTube Shorts—make sure to engage with your audience by reading the comments. Their feedback will guide you gradually.

Consider content repurposing, such as writing a weekly LinkedIn article and transforming it into a video for YouTube. I also suggest creating Shorts on YouTube, as they have become increasingly popular, similar to TikTok.

For lighting and sound, I recommend purchasing two lights, as well as a Blue Yeti microphone, to improve production quality. If you need additional questions on setting up a home studio, just let me know!

Question from Hamza

Hamza asks: "Why does the education system in America suck?"

The traditional education system in America fails to adequately prepare students for the realities of business and personal finance. Most business schools don’t teach how to start a company or manage your finances. This prompted me to create my own MBA program that addresses these gaps.

There’s a shift happening with online learning, where many people are questioning the value of traditional four-year degrees. Eventually, I believe we’ll see a truncation of these degrees, with more emphasis on online education.

Question from Joshua

Joshua inquires: "For a real estate investment fund, would you recommend recruiting a board before deal acquisition and how much founder equity would you offer?"

You don’t necessarily have to compensate board members financially, especially in private companies. They often join to represent their investors. When recruiting board advisors, pinpoint areas in which you require guidance and utilize LinkedIn to find qualified individuals.

Insights on YouTube Growth

Lastly, for those inspired to create content, I advocate for not being overly perfectionistic. The key is to get content out there and evolve over time, just like one does with a startup.

As a closing remark, keep believing in yourself and focus on long-term goals, especially in investing and career development.
