TRENDY CANVA SPLIT DESIGN | How To Make a Split Design With Text In Canva!

    blog thumbnail

    Introduction

Welcome to Angel V Designs! In this tutorial, we will explore creating a trendy split design using Canva. This design is a bit more advanced, so be prepared for a detailed and intricate process. Let’s dive in!

    Getting Started

Before we begin, if you're new to the channel, welcome! If you're a returning viewer, welcome back! Today’s tutorial will focus solely on the design aspect, as the complexities involved warrant a detailed walkthrough. If you’re interested in seeing how to print or use this design on DTF transfers, drop a comment below!

I'm designing on a 3000 by 3000 pixel canvas to achieve the best resolution. For anyone planning to print the design for a t-shirt, I recommend using at least an 11 by 17 inches canvas for optimal scaling. Let's start by adding a blank page for our design.

    Setting Up the Design

    1. Prepare Your Image: Import the image you sourced from Etsy. Ensure it’s centered on the blank canvas, using the solid pink lines that indicate the middle of the design.

    2. Adding an Outline: Select the image and navigate to 'Edit'. Choose 'Shadows' and then 'Outline'. Change the outline color to orange to match the fall vibes, setting the size to 20. This step is crucial before splitting the image.

    3. Splitting the Image: Duplicate the image so you have two identical copies. Ensure the top image is also centered. After confirming their alignment, proceed to split the top image. Move one side to the left until you see the pink vertical line indicating the center. Repeat the process for the bottom image, dragging it to the right.

    4. Creating a Background Color: On the left image, resize it and align it to the left edge of the canvas. Now select the canvas and choose a chocolate brown background color.

    Finalizing the Design

    1. Download the Design: Go to 'Share', then 'Download'. Choose PNG and ensure you don't check ‘Transparent Background’. Download only the second page with the brown background.

    2. Reimporting the Image: Bring the downloaded image back into your Canva project and create a new page for further editing.

    3. Using Font Frame: Search for 'Font Frame' under apps, select your downloaded image, and customize the text you wish to add. Change the font to 'Lobster', align your text, and make necessary adjustments.

    4. Final Adjustments: Once you’ve added and centered the text, align it with the image underneath. Ensure there’s no white space showing at the edges.

    5. Adding Additional Outlines: Once your text and image are aligned together, go to 'Edit' and then 'Shadows' to add another outline, ensuring the whole design is cohesive.

    Adding Background Elements

If you prefer, enhance your design with backgrounds. Search for "beige watercolor" and add to your project. Adjust the position to ensure it’s back behind your main design. You can add other elements, such as glitter or flowers, following the same methods of positioning and outlining for clarity.

    Review and Export

Finally, once you are satisfied with your design, download it once more, this time with a transparent background for a clean finish. You now have a trendy split design ready for various applications!
